The Equestrian Health and Safety Foundation is a member of the Smart Heart Sports Coalition which promotes the importance of Automatic External Debrillators (AEDs) at all athletic events. We are pleased to share this important message produced by our partners at the National Football League showing the life saving benefits of AEDs when dealing with Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).

Our partnership with the Smart Heart Sports Coalition reflects the Equestrian Health & Safety Foundation’s commitment to advancing equestrian safety through the same high-performance emergency preparedness standards embraced across elite sport.
Through this alliance, we are aligned with a nationally recognized coalition that includes major professional and collegiate sports organizations, as well as leading medical and health organizations. Notably, prominent societies in cardiology and sports medicine are current coalition members—including the American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Heart Association (AHA), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM)—reinforcing a shared, evidence-based approach to athlete safety.
These partnerships directly strengthen our mission by advancing proven best practices such as AED access, venue-specific emergency action planning, and CPR/AED training—all essential to protecting athletes, families, trainers, and staff.
For the Equestrian Health & Safety Foundation, this strategic relationship helps accelerate adoption of established AED and emergency response standards while reinforcing our leadership in building a safer future for equestrian sport.
